AVEVA announces two new strategic partnerships at its biggest ever AVEVA World Conference
During the AVEVA World 2024 press conference, AVEVA‘s CEO, Caspar Herzberg, announced new strategic partnerships with Vulcan Energy Resources (VER) and Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC).
VER aims at decarbonising lithium production by developing the world’s first dual lithium chemicals and renewable energy business with net zero greenhouse gas emissions. CONNECT, will be used to enhance collaboration and foster digital agility across the different project phases and industrial assets. VER will gain access to a comprehensive suite of software solutions tailored to Phase One and future phases. Core components, such as AVEVA’s Contract Risk Management (CRM) and AVEVA Asset Information Management (AIM), as well as AVEVA’s cutting-edge digital twin and Assai’s Document Control and Management system, will enable secure data sharing among multiple stakeholders including contractors.
AVEVA’s new partnership with Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) seeks to develop an application of quantum computing in the industrial sector. While still in its infancy, quantum computing is expected to help customers save time and money, as well as reducing power consumption. By partnering with OQC, AVEVA is bringing the power and capability of quantum compute to its customers, enabling them to unlock its potential to solve new and previously thought impossible problems. Quantum compute is anticipated to deliver an exponential speed-up over classical techniques, as well as generate cost and power consumption reductions: including AI large language models and big data.

Rigs generate over 1 billion rows of data per day from 30,000+ sensors streaming at 1 Hz or higher. Could reading instruction manuals become a thing of the past?
Simon Bennett, Aveva’s head of AI innovation, says the AI can locate where there has been, say, a power failure. It then delves into “a monster PDF manual”. From this, the AI - via a computer screen - generates different ideas of what the problem might be. It can also produce a 3D image of the affected machinery, such as a turbine, with Mr Bennett noting that engineers appreciate such visual responses to their questions.
Dozuki’s AI-powered system CreatorPro can automatically create a user guide based on an engineer making a video of him or her talking through and carrying out a process. “The user uploads the video, and a step-by-step instruction guide is automatically created,” says Allen Yeung, Dozuki’s vice president of product. “The AI chooses the text that accompanies each step, and it can automatically translate that into other languages.”

Hosted by the Linux Foundation and open to further interested parties, the Margo initiative draws its name from the Latin word for ‘edge’ and will define mechanisms for interoperability between applications, devices and orchestration software at the edge1 of industrial ecosystems. Data-driven Maintenance Work Order Management with Crosser and AVEVA
The customer faced a significant challenge with its existing automated work order management system. This system relied on monitoring maintenance metrics using PLCs alongside predefined trigger points. AVEVA System Platform was responsible for initiating SAP to trigger specific work orders aligned with predefined work plans. However, this approach demanded manual adjustments to PLCs and the AVEVA System Platform each time a new device was introduced or new parameters were required.
Moreover, when a SAP work order was completed and counters needed to be reset to zero, manual connections to the PLCs were necessary, introducing operational risks and requiring substantial manual effort with each new device or reset. The existing approach not only carried operational risks with each change but also imposed significant manual labor for every new device and reset process.

Williams sought to disrupt the energy Industry by creating the first certified gas marketplace with a gas certification process to encompass the end-to-end supply chain: from production through transmission and delivery. Participants share emissions data throughout the value chain with the certification agency, Context Labs.
The Decarbonization-as-a-Service™ platform will enable Context Labs’ partners in upstream, midstream and downstream firms to track and quantify emissions associated with natural gas procurement, transmission, and delivery down to the individual molecule.
Achieving this ambitious goal involves ingesting and analyzing vast amount of complex time series data from proprietary systems like FlowCal, Maximo, and Pi which house critical data of transmission, emissions etc.

Schlumberger and AVEVA today announced an agreement to integrate edge, AI and cloud digital solutions to help operators optimize oil and gas production. The companies will work together to streamline how energy operators acquire, process and action field data for enhanced wellsite efficiency and performance. Initial focus of the collaboration includes linking edge systems to applications in the DELFI* cognitive E&P environment to better manage equipment health and optimize performance.

According to Clayton, the goal of Schneider Electric’s IIoT initiative in Lexington is to boost efficiency and overall market competitiveness by introducing technologies that modernize and reinvent the control, monitoring and management processes of the plant.
It’s part of Schneider Electric’s global effort to digitally transform its factories and distribution centers. The 183-year-old company’s supply chain encompasses nearly 300 factories and logistics centers in more than 40 countries. Most of those facilities use the same IIoT technology that the company offers to its customers.
“These facilities are core to [our] Tailored Sustainable Connected Supply Chain 4.0 program, which creates a customized, sustainable and end-to-end connected supply chain across the plan, procurement, make, customer and sustain domains,” explains Clayton.
