Clean Core Thorium Energy Raises $15.5M in Series Seed
Clean Core Thorium Energy (CCTE) raises $15.5M in Series Seed funding to advance its patented ANEEL fuel, a blend of thorium and high assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU). The funding will be used to solidify technical partnerships, including irradiation tests at Idaho National Laboratory and validation work at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, and to support hiring, supply chain partnerships, and regulatory requirements. The investment syndicate is led by a Singapore-based family office and includes notable business leaders such as Sumant Sinha, Lakshmi Narayanan, and Deepak Parekh. CCTE’s ANEEL fuel aims to improve reactor economics, strengthen energy security, and enhance safety and proliferation resistance in existing nuclear reactors. The company plans to commercialize the ANEEL fuel in 2026, revolutionizing the nuclear energy industry.
X-energy Closes Upsized $700 Million Series C-1 Financing Round to Accelerate the Development of Advanced Small Modular Nuclear Technology
X-energy has closed a $700 million Series C-1 financing round, led by Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, to accelerate the development of its advanced small modular nuclear technology. The funding will support the completion of X-energy’s reactor design and licensing, as well as the first phase of its TRISO-X fuel fabrication facility. X-energy’s Xe-100 advanced small modular nuclear reactor is designed to provide 80 megawatts of electricity and is optimized for multi-unit plants. The company is developing its initial Xe-100 plant at Dow’s UCC Seadrift Operations manufacturing site in Texas, with support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. Amazon and X-energy are collaborating to bring over 5 gigawatts of new power projects online by 2039, with a focus on zero-carbon emissions and high-temperature steam. The partnership aims to establish a deployment and financing model for projects with infrastructure and utility partners.
Constellation To Acquire Calpine; Creates America’s Leading Producer of Clean and Reliable Energy to Meet Growing Demand for Customers and Communities
Constellation Energy Corporation is acquiring Calpine Corporation in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $16.4 billion. The acquisition creates the nation’s largest clean energy provider, with a diverse portfolio of zero- and low-emission generation assets. The combined company will have nearly 60 gigawatts of capacity from zero- and low-emission sources, including nuclear, natural gas, geothermal, hydro, wind, solar, cogeneration, and battery storage. The acquisition is expected to deliver benefits to Constellation’s owners, with expected immediate adjusted operating earnings per share accretion of more than 20% in 2026 and at least $2 per share of EPS accretion in future years. The transaction is projected to add more than $2 billion of free cash flow annually, creating strategic capital and scale to reinvest in the business.
Deep Fission and Endeavour Partner to Speed Delivery of Low-Cost Nuclear Power for Hyperscalers, Targeting 5-7 Cents Per kWh
Deep Fission Inc. and Endeavour Energy, LLC have partnered to deliver low-cost nuclear power to hyperscalers, targeting 5-7 cents per kWh. Deep Fission’s innovative technology places small modular reactors (SMRs) a mile underground, reducing costs and safety concerns while increasing power output. The partnership aims to co-develop 2 GW of nuclear energy to power Endeavour’s expanding global portfolio of Edged data centers, with the first reactors expected to be operational in 2029. The collaboration will redefine how clean energy is incorporated into electricity-demanding industries, setting a new standard for power solutions worldwide. Deep Fission’s approach leverages the natural geological advantages of deep borehole placement, making the reactor inherently safe, while Endeavour’s sustainable data center engineering expertise complements this solution. The partnership will drive the rapid commercialization of advanced nuclear reactors, supporting the unprecedented demands of AI and meeting green energy goals while being economically viable.
