Amsterdam-based Monumental exits stealth mode with β¬23.2M funding; plans to automate on-site construction with robotics and software
Monumental, a robotic startup that aims to solve labour, cost, and sustainability challenges in the global construction industry, announced on Thursday that it has emerged from two-and-half years of operating in stealth mode. The company also announced the raising of a $25M (approximately β¬23.2M) funding round co-led by Plural and Hummingbird. Other investors, including Northzone, Foundamental, and NP-Hard Ventures, participated in the round.
The Dutch company will use the funds to grow its team of hardware and software engineers, scale the number of robots it can deploy on sites across Europe, and increase the types of blocks and construction tasks the robots can manage.
Dutch-based VSParticle secures β¬14.5M to advance nanotechnology for meaningful purposes
Delft-based VSParticle (VSP), a company that supplies nanoparticle printing tools, announced on Tuesday that it has secured β¬14.5M in funding to accelerate material development and unlock innovation at scale. According to the Dutch company, the funds will be utilised to expand its operations and commercial teams, and scale up the manufacturing of VSPβs products and services.
The round was led by Plural, an investment platform set up for the unemployables. Pluralβs aim is to use technology to boost European GDP growth. It also collaborates with bold founders from everywhere who are addressing the global opportunity gap or systemic dangers. The round also saw participation from BlueYard Capital and a β¬3.5M grant from NXTGEN HIGHTECH, bringing the total raised by VSP to β¬17M.
