Lummus Technology and Versalis, Eni’s chemical company, have formed a strategic partnership to license Versalis’ phenolics technologies, strengthening their collaboration and competitive position in the phenolics value chain. The partnership will enable Lummus to serve as the exclusive licensor for phenolics technologies, ranging from Cumene to Cyclohexanone Oxime. Both companies will collaborate on engineering, marketing, and licensing, as well as provide proprietary catalysts and equipment for these processes. Advanced Ionics Raises $6.7M to Accelerate Technology Commercialization and Deployment

Advanced Ionics, the developer of a new class of green hydrogen electrolyzers aimed at accelerating decarbonization, announced that it has raised an additional $6.7 million in funding from strategic investors JERA, Lummus Venture Capital, and the Argosy Foundation as well as existing investors Clean Energy Venture Group and bp Ventures. This new capital will be used to increase the pace of development of its water-vapor electrolyzer technology, as well as build out the company’s manufacturing and research and development facility.

Lummus and Advanced Ionics Establish Partnership for Green Hydrogen

Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, announced a new partnership with Advanced Ionics, a low-cost green hydrogen technology provider. This partnership includes an investment from Lummus Venture Capital to accelerate the commercialization of Advanced Ionics’ hydrogen electrolyzer technology and support the decarbonization efforts in the refining, gas processing and petrochemical industries. Lummus will also provide engineering services and supply proprietary equipment to create additional green hydrogen capacity for new builds and existing hydrogen users or producers.

By harnessing waste heat and low-cost clean electricity, Advanced Ionics’ Symbion™ Electrolyzers use up to 40 percent less electricity per kilogram of hydrogen produced than alkaline and PEM technologies. The system’s modular design allows for rapid deployment, ease of operation and maintenance, and the use of widely available components helps reduce capital costs.

Lummus and Citroniq Announce Licensing and Engineering Agreements for Green Polypropylene Plants

Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, and Citroniq Chemicals announced that the two companies have signed licensing and engineering agreements for green polypropylene plants in the U.S. The first plant, scheduled for completion in 2027, will produce 400kta of bio-polypropylene and will be first in North America with this production capability.

In April 2023, Lummus and Citroniq formed a partnership to develop four green polypropylene plants in North America using Lummus’ Verdene™ polypropylene technology suite. The licensing and engineering agreements announced are for the first of the four plants.

The Verdene suite includes four Lummus technologies: ethanol to ethylene technology, dimer technology, olefins conversion technology and polypropylene technology. Lummus is the only technology provider able to supply all the proven, low energy technologies to produce renewable green polypropylene from biogenic ethanol.
