American Industrial Partners, an industrials investor, announced the completion of its acquisition of AGCO Corporation’s (NYSE: AGCO) Grain & Protein division, which produces grain storage and seed processing solutions as well as feeding, watering, climate management and control systems for worldwide protein production, principally poultry, swine, and egg. In conjunction with the transaction close, it was announced that the new standalone, privately held business will now operate under the name Grain & Protein Technologies with Jacob Thomas serving as CEO.

Serving customers in over 100 countries worldwide, Grain & Protein Technologies employs more than 3,200 people across its 14 manufacturing facilities in North America, Brazil, Europe, and Malaysia, generating an annual revenue of approximately $1 billion. Partnership Brings New Capabilities to Autonomous Farming Robot

Apex.AI is expanding its partnership with agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO, offering its software development kit to bring autonomous capabilities to AGCO’s farming robot concept vehicle, Fendt Xaver.

The battery-powered, cloud-controlled Xaver bots can autonomously plant seeds on farms 24 hours a day and boast centimeter precision planting capabilities, using satellite-based navigation to accurately pinpoint the areas for planting. The new software from Apex.AI will bring new sensor features to the bots, including lidar object detection, as well as collision checking and planning to further enhance accuracy and data collection.
